Alongside one of my lifelong best friends, three years ago I founded Sad Socket - an indie video game studio. Selling over 1 million copies of our titles on Steam, and I'm currently the lead designer of 9 Kings and Ending Tau. Check out our website here.
9 Kings is a pocket strategy game originally created for adults who have jobs and families. We made the game cause we love strategy games but rarely have three hours (or the mind space) in a day to play them. Our goal was to design the most minimalistic re-playable game we could think of, mixing the purity of games like chess with the addicting chaos of flash games of the 2000s.
What started off as an experimental pocket game suddenly went viral and became one of the best-selling games in the world in 2025. With 300k copies sold in one week, 9 Kings launch was the biggest Brazilian game launch of all time.
We still can't really explain how this happened, to be honest with you.
When I was a kid, I always wondered why there were only videogames about Vikings, Cowboys, and G.I. Joes in the store—and no games about the country I was born in. I wanted to make Ending Tau so other Brazilian kids wouldn’t wonder the same.
Inspired by Guarani folklore, the game explores the Latin American fauna and flora in a fantastical land where an ancient god wants to curse everything that lives.
Ending Tau is an adventure roguelite game with stylized pixel art and a unique gameplay premise. It is the first triple-I game from Sad Socket and is slated for release in 2026.
